In 2015, and again in 2017, Mohamed was awarded the NYSCA DEC Grant for Arts in Education. The grant was provided by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature; administered by Arts Services Initiative of Western New York. It gave Mohamed the opportunity to teach Guinean drumming to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at Casey, Mill, and Heim Middle Schools in the Williamsville, NY School District. In 2017, Mohamed's classes were also funded by the Heim and Mill Middle School PTSA's and by the Williamsville Music Boosters. Mohamed would like to thank each of the program's funders. He is pleased to present the following videos documenting the culmination of his students' efforts.
